Looking For The Perfect Moisturiser

Just a couple of days ago, I was given a shock. It may be because I’ve been super-busy, but I didn’t realise that my body moisturiser was running out and now I need a new one!

My ol' trusty favourite....

I have been using Nivea Rich Firming Body Moisturiser (£5.10) not only because of it’s promise to rid my body of jiggly bits, but also because my skin is left ridiculously soft AND it smells divine. I feel that beauty shouldn’t always be a case of stick to what you know, because if that was the case we’d all still be using lead in our foundation!

So – I’m on the prowl for a rich moisturiser, that doesn’t sit on top of my skin like a film of slime and also smells divine. I don’t have particularly dry skin but feel it’s best to have a deep moisturiser to keep skin supple and soft.

What I’m looking for is a product that is better than my trusty Nivea and doesn’t have a hefty price tag either.

Have you used a new body moisturiser recently? What would you suggest?

(For those of you concerned, I’m using a back-up moisturiser in the mean time – a girl can’t go without moisturiser!)

Fancy A Snail Trail On Your Face? It’s The New Beauty Trend…

Just when you think that beauty trends couldn’t get anymore ridiculous. It has! A new product is out, and it will apparently sort out your acne, blemishes and wrinkles but there’s a catch, it’s snail juice.

Picture: MailOnline

The new Snail Gel can be found at your local Holland & Barrett for the price of £21.39, your acne troubles could be over with this solution. The snail’s mucus is even said to be a burn and scar healer.

Labcconte USA, Capibell, De Tuinen, Andes Nature, Elicina and Alfa snail products that are all available to buy online or in the U.S.

The snail juice, is actually called Helix Aspersa Müller Glycoconjugates, it’s a mix of proteins, elastin and glycolic acids that protect it from damage, UV rays and infection, but now has been harnessed into a beauty cream for your skin.

It has been reported that the snail slime boosts the skins water retention, wound healing and even stimulates the production of collagen.

While dermatologist Dr. Bobby Buka told Today.come that “there are no placebo-controlled trials demonstrating the efficacy of snail slime or mucus in skin rejuvenation”, users of the products can’t stop raving about it.

Snail juice is for the main part a chemical-free formulation and is considered an almost natural way to look after your skin but definitely comes with a ‘gag’ factor.

Would you get over it and slap it on?

Carol’s Daughter Launches New Line Inspired By The Novel, ‘The Help’

The new 'Be Loved' collection

Yes, you heard us correctly. Carol’s Daughter has launched a new range of products which have been inspired by the book ‘The Help’.

‘Be Loved’ is the new collection and includes a dry oil mist, frappe body lotion, body cleansing gel and the brand’s first room spray. The new range carries a summer scent of magnolia, linen and peach.

According to Lisa Price, ‘Be Loved’ was inspired by her parents’ love, as she said: “My mother taught me how to love, while my father taught me I deserved to receive love. I channeled these sentiments while creating the Be Loved collection.”

The new line will be pushed alongside the release of the new film ‘The Help’, which will premiere in the UK in November 2011, starring Viola Davis, Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard.

For those of you who haven’t read the book by Kathryn Stockett, it tells the story of the struggle between African-American maids working for white employers in their houses during the 1960s, doing everything from raising their babies, to polishing silver to cleaning up after miscarriages.

Do you think it’s a good idea for a beauty collection to be inspired by such a story?

Kelly Rowland launches new perfume ‘Empress’ With P Diddy

P Diddy has given Kelly Rowland her own fragrance called ‘Empress’ through his Sean John label.

The ‘Motivation’ singer has not only been appointed as a new judge on the UK’s X Factor but she’s also released her third studio album called ‘Here I Am’, so this is just another string to add to her bow.

In a recent interview with Essence magazine, the 30-year-old talked about the new scent. “The first time I sprayed it I was instantly taken because I loved the floral, fruity scent. But after awhile, I smelled the caramel and vanilla notes, and loved it even more! Empress is a unique, strong scent that really floats with you,” she said.

The former Destiny’s Child beauty also claimed that the fragrance was linked to women’s empowerment. Rowland explained: “Me and Empress mirror each other. Empress is all about being confident and understanding your worth as a woman, which is exactly where I am right now. While I was making “Here I Am,” I finally realized my own power — and it’s pretty freaking amazing!”

I’m not one for celebrity-endorsed products, but Rowland comes across as such a genuine girl that it’d be hard not to at least try her perfume.

Has Kelly Rowland Overtaken Beyonce As Queen Of Beauty?

Kelly Rowland and Beyonce

Kelly Rowland joined Beyonce, her sister Solange, Busta Rhymes and Jada Pinkett-Smith to name a few at Kanye West and Jay-Z’s exclusive listening party for their collaborative album ‘Watch The Throne’ in New York last night.

The ‘Motivation’ star looked positively stunning despite her casual ensemble for the eve. All through Kelly’s life, even the pre-Destiny’s Child era, she was outshone by her friend and bandmate Beyonce but now – it looks as if the 30-year-old is having her moment.

And with her latest album entitled ‘Here I Am’, she knows it too.

Kelly and Beyonce, as close as sisters (if you can believe that), stood side-by-side for press shots last night, where they smiled for the cameras in their grey blouses and denim but, Rowland just steals the glamour crown with her silky locks and dark eye make-up.

Honestly Don’t Rough Dry Your Hair With A Towel!

If you’re trying to grow your hair and limit damage to your locks, you’ll often be told to avoid straighteners or putting too many chemicals on it through colouring or relaxing – but what you might not be told is to avoid rough drying your hair with a towel.

Doesn’t that sound odd?

It might well do, but actually if you towel-dry your hair you could end up doing some serious damage as the rubbing action can damage the cuticle – and no one wants frizzy hair right!?

After washing your hair, squeeze the excess water out of your hair while still in the bath or shower – then pat your hair dry with the towel. If your hair is quite long, wrap your locks in a towel and gently squeeze out the water.

You might think this takes a bit more time, attention and care – but, better that than looking at your locks on the floor.
